About
Accounting expertise with an organisation-wide perspective.
I am Chris Davidson, a Chartered Accountant and founder of iuvo.solutions.
I use finance as a tool to help purpose-driven organisations become stronger, make sound decisions and deliver work that matters.
More than technical accounting
Experience of the wider organisation shapes the financial work.
My career began in accounting, audit and business advisory work. It later developed into over two decades of broader leadership and management across charitable, community, disability, youth-development and public-service organisations.
I have worked as a financial controller, chief operating officer, chief executive and general manager, as well as in roles involving programme design, systems, quality, technology and organisational change.
This means I can approach financial information with an understanding of:
- What a chief executive and Board need from it
- How funding, staffing and service delivery affect the numbers
- The pressures created by limited resources and competing priorities
- The difference between a technically correct answer and a workable one
- How systems and controls are experienced by the people expected to use them
Through iuvo.solutions, I bring that wider experience to accounting, financial management, governance and related advisory work, helping organisations connect sound financial practice with the decisions they need to make.
Why iuvo.solutions?
A name that reflects the kind of professional relationship I value.
The name iuvo comes from Latin, meaning to assist, support and befriend.
I chose it because it reflects a relationship that is capable and dependable, but also human. I want clients to know that I take a genuine interest in their organisation, will give them an honest view and will follow important matters through.
What guides my work
Sound finance should help people move forward.
- 01Purpose before process
The starting point is what the organisation is trying to achieve. Processes and controls should support that purpose. - 02Finance is a tool
Accurate accounts matter, but greater value comes from using financial information to make better decisions. - 03Practical and usable matters
A theoretically perfect system is not helpful if busy staff, managers or volunteers cannot realistically use it. - 04Controls should be proportionate
Safeguards should reflect the scale of the risk, the organisation's capacity and the consequences of failure. - 05Good advice creates a way forward
Advice should help people understand what matters and act with confidence.
